What is PowerApps in SharePoint Online?
The “PowerApps” is used the platform as service. This is one of the tools from the office 365 suite. Using this tool, a very quickly SharePoint developer, user, administrator and architect can develop a new form or customize the existing SharePoint list form – these moderns form can be accessed from mobile, tablet devices which will support all sorts of browsers.
Earlier, people used to customize the SharePoint list using the Infopath designer, and Microsoft has announced that after 2022 Microsoft will not support Infopath, so by this time we should think of re-developing those InfoPath forms in the PowerApps, statics says still million of forms are being used in Infopath form. In the long run, PowerApps is the way to go, so we should plan for re-developing the InfoPath form in PowerApps.

How to access PowerApps?
If you have an office 365 account, you can directly access PowerApps using this URL – https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/ or you can go to the SharePoint online list from where using the ribbon menu we can customize the list form – we will see this in the below section.
How to customize forms using PowerApps in SharePoint Online?
Navigate to the list which you want to customize.
Click on the “Customize forms” link from the ribbon Power Apps dropdown menu.

After a second, you will land to the Power Apps designer page.

Note:
- By default, the Title column is added, we can add other columns as well by clicking on the “+ Add Field” link.
- We can do a lot os amazing stuff like creating a power automate, connecting to other connectors like SQL.
How to preview the PowerApps app?
In this basic PowerApps tutorial, I am focussing on how to use the PowerApps builder tool, so let’s see here how to preview the PowerApps app form. Press F5 or click or click on the right arrow button like below. In this customization, I have just opened the form in PowerApps and added a custom submit button, which I will publish back in SharePoint to see how it looks like.

How to publish PowerApps in the SharePoint Online site?
From the left topmost corner, click on the “Back to SharePoint” link to publish the PowerApps in SharePoint Online site.

Then, click on the “Publish to SharePoint” button.

Then, let’s wait for a few seconds to get it published.
Finally, after publishing the form, open any of the existing records, in edit mode, we can see that the customized PowerApps form has been opened.
